Hi Everyone.

I’ve been playing with the Javascript Geolocation API on my
iPhone and I’ve set up a Safari home page that sends the
co-ordinates of my iPhone to my server whenever the browser
is started so I can see where it’s being used.  All in
Javascript, no need for the SDK or a dev license.

Looking forward to seeing you at Ajax Pub Nite to see
what you’ve been up to.

Reminder: Ajax Pub Nite #4 is tonight!

Author: krispy | Filed under: Pub Nite

Well folks, it has been a busy month!

James Newton-King has released a new version of Json.NET that apparently has a new easier syntax that allows for developer friendly querying and creation of JSON code.

Pownce (a Kevin Rose project) has released version 2.0 of their API and apologized for taking so long in getting it out. They claim that it has been made developer friendly and they hope to start to compete with twitter on the 3rd party client metric… hmm… we’ll see how that goes. It sounds to me like we are getting into the realm of GMail 2.0…

Jeff Atwood posted a hilarious storming viewpoint on DHH (David Heinemeier Hansson) calling him a “Douchebag”—its a must read as Jeff calls David on “…gets off on putting other people down.”

Hot off the press it appears that Joey deVilla (Global Nerdy, The Accordion Guy)—(formerly of Tucows; NOW formerly of TSOT) has moved on to work for B5 Media! As stated this morning he has moved on… the question now is why?

Have a great day all!

Remember Monday March 10th is the next Ajax Pub Nite!

Hey everyone!

Our inaugural event last month was a big success, with roughly 25 attendees. Hopefully you’ve recovered and are looking forward to tonight’s event. Same time, same place: 7pm at The Rhino (1249 Queen St. W) and yes, you can bring your special friend.

Please do consider signing up on the mailing list, so that we can remind you of these events:

See you tonight!

Reminder: Ajax Pub Nite is TONIGHT

Author: pete | Filed under: Pub Nite

Ajax Pub Nite #1 was a smashing success! We had around 25 people show up—not at all bad for a first event—and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves quite well. We were at The Rhino—same place as Rails Pub Nites, and a appropriate venue, if I do say so myself. Thanks to everyone who came out!I was so caught up in all the whole thing that I forgot to call to attention two things I wanted to discuss: coming up with a half-decent tagline for the site Update: that’s been resolved, and brainstorming some ideas for a good enough parody for JSOFF (as opposed to JSON). Oh well, there’s always next month I suppose :-) .

Brent took some photos, as did I:

I’ll start with the About blurb:

We’re here to build a community around Ajax and create opportunities to meet face to face at events small and large.

Ajax is a unifying word that brings a number of technologies and techniques together to express one concept – a way to build compelling browser-based applications that comprise the foundation of the future of the web.

Let’s start with a Toronto-based Ajax Pub Nite, informal and unstructured. Once some community is established we can introduce evening Ajax Presentations and Demos and/or Ajax Workshops and build up to an eventual full-day Ajax Camp, perhaps inspiring people from different locales to join in here and set up their own events worldwide.

Sooo, our first Ajax Pub Nite will be Monday, January 14th, 2008 at 7pm at

The Rhino (map)
1249 Queen Street West
Toronto, ON
M6K 1L5, Canada
(416) 535-8089

Subsequent Ajax Pub Nites will be on the second Monday of each month, same place and time.

Comment here or drop us an email at info{at}ajaxcamp.org to let us know you’re coming.

Update: You can also RSVP on the Facebook event page (and we recommend that you do)!
